Billie Jordon Rinaldi

Billie Jordan Rinaldi is a practicing artist from Galveston whose primary medium is watercolor with some works in acrylic, oil, and pastels.  She has been pursuing her art since her retirement in 2010 after 44 years in education including 28 years as a school principal.  During her years as a school principal, Billie advocated for art instruction in each of her schools.  As a child growing up on a ranch in South Dakota, Billie attended a one room country school with no art instruction.  Her high school years were also without art instruction.

Throughout her lifetime Billie planned to pursue her love of creating art upon her retirement. With an aunt who was a practicing artist and art teacher and a father and grandfather who were artists, Billie was attracted to drawing and painting as long as she remembers. Upon her retirement in the fall of 2010, she began watercolor lessons, drawing classes and a wide variety of workshops.  Presently, Billie prefers painting landscapes and still life subjects. Favorite subjects are Galveston Island and Bay as well as studies from her travels. In addition to watercolors, she also enjoys painting with acrylics and oil, drawing portraits and occasionally creating scratch board art. Billie has been on the Board of the Galveston Art League since 2008 serving as the Program Director who plans workshops for the member artists and Preview Parties for Member shows at the gallery.
