Dramatic Backgrounds in Color Pencil with Karen Knight
​Description:
Color pencil requires, above all, patience!
Achieving a dramatic and smooth background is one of the
most difficult techniques in color pencil. Once you learn this,
the rest is easy! We will work on 4 blending techniques in
this workshop: rich, smooth blurred background, mottled
background, blending with an odorless solvent and a
colorless blender pencil/burnishing.

Supplies Needed:
Prismacolor pencils: (can be purchased open stock at Texas Art, Jerry's Artarama, Hobby Lobby) or  any good quality larger set of your own. (Luminance, Polychromos, Derwent, etc.) These can be ordered from Dick Blick or Amazon. Allow shipping time for Dick Blick. 
Recommended colors: 90% Warm Grey, Indigo Blue, Dark Umber, Light Umber, Black grape, Black Cherry, Magenta, Yellow Ochre, Canary yellow, Burnt Sienna, Terra Cotta, Mahogany Red, Crimson Red, Tuscan Red, Dark Brown, Espresso, Dark Purple, Cream, White
Blenders:  colorless Prismacolor blender pencil or Caran D'Ache full blender pencil
Other supplies:
Smooth drawing board
Pencil sharpener:  hand one preferred (quieter) 
I buy several at the dollar store that hold the shavings)
or battery operated.

Watercolor on Yupo with Fontaine Jacobs
Description: This will be a fun, new class for all levels. Yupo is a slick,
synthetic paper that has wonderful lifting ability. With watercolor and
the use of objects such as Q-tips, plastic embroidery grids, corrugated
cardboard and other tools you will learn to create unusual textures with
watercolor on Yupo. You really can’t go wrong. If you don’t like what you
have created, simply wipe it back to the white of the paper and start over.
​So relax and discover the joys of painting on Yupo.
